About the Role:

The Women's and Children's Health area within Cannonvale Medical Centre provides maternity, post natal and child health services to women and their families in the local area.

These services include antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care; gynaecology care; support and education around domiciliary care.

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team including Midwifery, Medical staff, Allied Health and Nurses.

Within the Framework of the Vision and Values, the role of our Practice Support Midwife acts as a conduit between our community of patients and our local hospitals in a clinical setting to assist patients through and beyond their maternity to gain competence as a parent as they welcome a new addition to their family.

Under limited direction but full support of the Practice Manager you will:

  • Create a rich learning experiences including working directly with women to role model woman-centered midwifery care to women of differing needs 
  • Uphold a supportive patient-centred environment within the context of woman-centred care, including mentoring and debriefing
  • Identify learning needs and creating and conducting innovative learning opportunities that build on your fellow nursing team capabilities
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation. 

About you:

Mandatory Requirements / Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated evidence of advanced clinical knowledge and skill in the defined area of practice i.e. Post graduate qualifications in midwifery or working towards the same.
  •  Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Be eligible for a Medicare Provider number under your own name as a provider
