The Organisation

You will be working for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service that covers an area of almost 150,000 square km. It stretch­es north of Ten­nant Creek to Elliott, east­ward almost to the Queens­land bor­der and south to Ali Curung and provides ser­vices to over 7500 people. The service pro­vides pri­ma­ry health care ser­vices to Abo­rig­i­nal peo­ple of Ten­nant Creek and four small communities.

This well-managed and modern practice is complete with treatment rooms equipped to a high standard and spacious consulting rooms. The centre features a pathology collection facility, Point of Care testing capability and has a nearby pharmacy. The centre hosts a number of Specialist Outreach services including Renal, Ophthalmology, Cardiology and a number of allied health services.

The Job 

·      As General Practitioner, working within a team of 3-4 GPs, you will provide high-qual­i­ty holis­tic pri­ma­ry health care ser­vices to the region’s Abo­rig­i­nal com­mu­ni­ties in a cul­tur­al­ly respon­sive way

·      The position reports to the Director of Medical Services 

·      You will receive excellent support from an experienced team of Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers and Practice Management, 

·      Key responsibilities will include: Identification and management of chronic conditions with a multidisciplinary approach, participation in health checks, health promotion activities and public health education drives.

·      You will providing health education to Aboriginal Health Practitioners, GP Registrars, Medical Students and other members of the primary health care team

·      Special interests - Diabetes, Renal Medicine, Sexual Reproductive Health, Paediatrics, Mental Health, etc. will be supported by the practice

·      This is a full-time permanent role, with a 38 hour working week with clinic hours 0800 - 1630, Monday to Friday

Requirements  

·      Vocationally registered General Practitioner with current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration 

·      Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners, or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine is essential (FRACGP or FACRRM)

·      Ability to obtain an unrestricted Medicare Provider Number.

·      Prior experience as a General Practitioner delivering primary health care services will be highly regarded
